Secretary of State for Education Nicky Morgan:
"It's fabulous to be here are Falcons Primary here this morning. Yes, there were some initial problems but as we can see it has been worth the wait. It's a happy purposeful school with fabulous children and committed staff, governors and parents. And it's just a delight to be here to see what starts as a piece of paper in Whitehall transformed into a school here in Leicester."
"We are great supporters of faith schools. We think they bring a huge amount to the education of children in this country. This school is particularly dealing with the need for more school places in Leicester. I think it's going to be offering a fantastic education."
Head Teacher of the school Jasbir Mann:
"A Sikh pre-school is a school that's based on the five virtues of the Sikh religion. The five virtues are compassion, determination, faith, resolve and mastery. The challenges are ensuring the the Sikh community understands that a Sikh school isn't just for Sikh pupils. The virtues I've spoken about, I think are what most schools will aspire to anyway. I guess the challenge is to say it would be fantastic to have children from a range of backgrounds and cultures."
A couple of the small children added in the conversation: "I like it because there's lots of things to do here." "We learn about Punjabi."
One of the mothers said, "Now that the school is open we are so, so excited. I don't know how to express my happiness."
