Dhamu (89K)

"Rajdeep Singh Dhamu joined the local Explorer Scout unit in 2011 at the age of 13 and has never looked backed since. He has made numerous friends and has been made extremely welcome by his Explorer Unit and peers.

Rajdeep proudly wears a Turban and is the only one to do so in the Epping Forest South Scout District and one of only a few within the Greater London North East Scout County.

During this year’s St George's Day Parade, Rajdeep was nominated and proudly carried the Explorer Scout Flag. He represented not only his Unit but also set a standard that Sikhs, even those that wear turbans should join the Scouting movement.

Rajdeep has also been selected to participate in next year’s World Scout Jamboree where thousands of Scouts from all over the World will be gathering in Japan. Scouts will be coming from as far as the Americas to Australasia including India.

Rajdeep hopes that his involvement will encourage many other Sikh children to participate in Scouting which is a very respected, disciplined and life changing opportunity for all children and so become part of a much wider youth community."
