Monday, October 08, 2012: With nearly 50 volunteers taking part, the Leicester cleanup day of Fludes Lane in Oadby, for Sewa Day 2012, was a huge success. Individuals from all communities, all faiths and non faiths took part in this very worthy cause.
Sewa Day is an international event which takes place globally for one day a year: http://www.sewaday.org/home/?country=uk
Seva has been described as a concept which is “embedded in Indian traditions, and is actively promoted by different cultures and faiths - as the core belief is the same - to sacrifice your time and resources for the benefit of others without wanting anything in return”.
The event was followed by refreshments for all volunteers at Guru Harkrishan Gurdwara in Oadby.
