Vismaad Films, the maker of animation movies on Sikh history, is bringing its fifth movie to North America for a tour of its premiere shows. Their movies are highly acclaimed for having a special appeal to the Sikh diaspora.

Prior to this new movie, Vismaad has created animated movies titled “Sahibzadey”, “The Rise of Khalsa”, “Sundri” and “Bhai Taru Singh”. Given the fact that all of Vismaad’s movies are made using classical animation, which involves teams of specially trained artists hand drawing hundreds of thousands of frames over thousands of laborious hours, it’s a miracle that they have managed to produce five movies in a span of seven years. It’s also remarkable that despite facing extreme financial and logistical challenges with each movie, Vismaad has continued to roll.

The new movie is titled "Bhai Subeg Singh Shahbaz Singh". It brings to screen the story of an exceptional father-son duo while beautifully depicting rustic imagery of 18th century Punjab. This movie gives deep insights into the Sikh family-life and values. The soul-stirring Shabads and songs in it are reminiscent of those in Vismaad's fourth movie, “Bhai Taru Singh”. For many of us, as a bonus, the portrayal of rural scenes of Punjab in it is bound to refresh long-forgotten memories of a distant time.

The movie’s protagonist, Bhai Subeg Singh, was a learned man. Due to his keen interest in education, he excelled in learning Arabic and Persian. His superior intellect and illustrious nature landed him a job at the Lahore Court where he played a key role in critical negotiations between the Court and Dal Khalsa. As fate would have it, soon after, Bhai Subeg Singh and his teen-aged son were faced with choices between faith and life. The movie has a powerful storyline that connects the viewers with yet another amazing chapter of the Sikh history. It’s a must-see for all Sikhs because such movies reaffirm our faith and rejuvenate our spirits.

The movie’s global tour is starting in California with premiere shows on February 25th and on March 3rd in the cities of Fremont and San Jose respectively.
