Positive Post-it Day

Editors note: The idea of Chardi Kala is generally understood to mean determined optimism. Optimism in the face of oppression. Below is news about a 16 year old girl who was bullied and how she diverted the bullying in a creative and positive way. Her positive approach spread through Canada in different schools, universities, businesses and even City Hall. It has also spread on social media sites facebook and twitter. What a wonderful example of spreading Chardi Kala in the spirit of Sarbat Da Bhala! I think the reason the idea spread so well is because of the 'good will towards all' that was behind it. Imagine how the world would be if every act of bullying in highschool sparked a positive movement with such reach! The world would be a better place. Good job Caitlin Prater-Haacke!

"Caitlin's positive note campaign came from a very dark moment 10 days ago. Someone posted a message on her facebook feed urging her to die. Caitlin didn't get even, she got positive wallpapering school lockers with inspirational messages on post-it notes. It was a hit with fellow students but not so much her high school. She was reprimanded. Those positive sticky notes seen as nothing more than a source of litter. Of coarse that only sparked a movement in Airdrie (Alberta, Canada) "Positive Post-It Campaign Day".

Even Airdrie city council passed a resolution supporting it. (The mayor said,) "Positive begets positive so we were excited to support it."

So is Jennifer Ferguson who posted positive affirmations for all of her bank colleges (CIBC), "I was really inspired by her story and what she did in her school in support of anti-bullying and wanted to spread that around here at the branch." Financial adviser Kristina Weenink is sparkling a little brighter today because of the positive post-it she got, "It's really neat to understand your own personal impact on somebody else that you're not aware of.

So were all the others who's positive post-it's are starting to make their way onto social media."
