Jarnail Singh Sahota believes he will be the first turban wearing Sikh to carry the Olympic torch in Canada when he hoists the flame on Feb. 6 in Ashcroft.
The 54-year-old Surrey businessman says it's the perfect way to cap a quarter century in Canada since immigrating here from India.
"It's really exciting for me," he said. "I'm really proud to be a Canadian Sikh."
Sahota was once a national level lightweight boxer in India and has coached boxing here.
His wife and three children will be on hand to watch his leg of the Olympic torch relay.
"I think I will wear a red turban," he said. "It's Canada's colour."
