Sikhs offered prayers at the memorial service for victims of the deadly Aug 17 bomb blast at a popular Bangkok shrine.
In a solemn ceremony today, a band of Sikhs, including volunteer officials from Bangkok’s Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha, attended the prayer session at a mall across the Erawan shrine on the Ratchaprasong intersection. They joined the Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians.
The blast killed 20 people, including a family of five form Malaysia.
The Sikh group, which included a number of ladies, were greet by Thai dignitaries, performed kirtan and concluded with an ardaas (supplication). They were given a tent marked ‘Sikhism’.
Among the Sikh representatives at the memorial were former gurdwara committee president Narinder Singh Champa Narula, gurdwara committee deputy president Jaswinder Singh, Gulvinder Singh, Manmohan Singh, Uncle Champi, Kulwant Singh, Kulwant Singh and Tejinder Singh Lovely.
