SIKHS CELEBRATE 383th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SEVENTH SIKH GURU,
SRI GURU HAR RAI SAHEBJI
WITH DEVOTION AND GAIETY

The 383th “BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS OF SEVENTH SIKH GURU SRI GURU HAR RAI SAHEB JI was celebrated with religious gaiety and devotion by the Sikh community of twin cities on Sunday (February 24).

The festival was marked with offering of prayers to Guru Granth Sahebji, recitations of keertans taking out of holy procession followed by Guru ka langar etc.

The major attraction of the celebrations was organised under the aegis of Prabhandak Committee, Gurudwara Saheb Barambala Saheb, Sikh Chawniat where large number of Sikh devotees and other community faiths of the state took part in “ VISHAAL DEEWAN (MASS CONGREGATION)” held at Gurudwara Saheb Premises, Sikh Chawniat from 11 am to 4.30 pm on Sunday.

The congregation which began at 11 AM was marked by the recitations of Holy Gurubani Keertans [Holy Hymns] by the renowned Ragi Jathas [Religious Preachers] who were specially invited from various parts of the country for the important occasion.

Bhai Amarjeet Singh of Patiala wale, Gyani Sukhdev SInghji Damdami Taksal Bhai Esher Singh, Giani Harcharan SInghji and other reputed Ragi Jathas rendered Holy Gurbani Keertans which stressed on imbibing the higher values of life in our day to day to living.

The preachers called upon the devotees to follow the teachings of Sikh Gurus who strove for national integration. Communal harmony brother hood and peace to the whole humanity.

Prabhandak Committee President S. Harbans Singh welcomed the devotees. After the culmination to congregation the traditional Guru-ka-langer [free community kitchen prepared specially by the devotees was served to all the devotees who sit in the same row with great discipline promoting the feelings of togetherness and concern for the fellow human beings.

Later, in the evening a COLOURFUL HOLY PROCESSION [NAGAR KEERTAN] was taken out from Gurudwara Saheb Barambala and passed through the main corridors of HUDA Colony, Nandimusliaguda, Kishanbagh X Road and return back to Gurudwara in the evening.

GURU GRANTH SAHEB JI was carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with five “ Nishaan Saheban” [Flag bearers] during the procession. Shabadkeertans were rendered bye Keerthani Jathas of men, women and youth. “PANJ PYARAS” [Five beloved ones] and Sikh youths displayed their extraordinary exercise with their swords skills and other skills with breathtaking performance attracting passer bys all along the procession routes, Kada Prasad, tea and snacks were supplied to the devotees.

On February 25, A Night Keertan Darbar will be held at the Gurudwara premises from 8 pm to 11 pm in which noted Ragi Jathas will render shabad keertans and kathas.
