SIKHLENS ANNOUNCES THE SECOND-ANNUAL CONCERT SikhLens is proud to announce the incredible talent who will be participating in a concert at the 2013 Sikh Arts and Film Festival held from November 22 - 24, 2013, at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. After the overwhelming success of last year’s concert, this year there will be a wide variety of performances by inspiring musicians from around the country on Sunday, November 24th. The concert will proudly feature: Gurpreet Sarin, a Top 40 contestant on American Idol Season 12. Sarin is a singer, song-writer, guitar-player, and a lover of music. Kanwer Singh, also known as Humble the Poet, is an elementary school teacher and Toronto-bred MC/Spoken Word Artist. From the classroom to center stages, Humble utilizes the myriad of experiences in his life and consolidates them into digestible lyricism, witty choruses, and unmatched energy layered over infectious production. Kiran Ahluwalia, a unique and inspiring performer and composer who has made a career of transcending the boundaries often imposed on artists from outside the mainstream. On album, her compositions and arrangements have contributed to the evolution of the ghazal genre, through the subtle use of a multitude of sounds and styles from other cultures. Harjinder Bedi, the lead singer and guitar player of the band Fatbook. Fatbook was originally formed at Lawrence University and won back-to-back “Downbeat Awards” from the jazz world’s Downbeat Magazine in 2009 and 2010. The 7 member group has been rooted in Chicago since then, and unique high energy live performances have propelled them to quickly become a recognized force in the Chicago music community. Doc bLAdez, one of North America’s premier DJs. In 2012, doc competed in the most famous of all DJ competitions, the WORLD DMC DJ Championship in the Los Angeles heat. bLAdez has also deejayed for and alongside hundreds of UK Bhangra Artists, Hip Hop artists and DJs across the world.
