FREMONT: In an experience purely spiritual in nature, the Sikh Sangat here preferred to ring in the New Year in the presence of the Guru at Gurdwara Sahib, Fremont, participating in a 27-hour long Keertan and Katha Darbar that began at 5:30 pm on December 31, 2009 and went on till 9:30 pm ofJanuary 1, 2010.

As the sangat was awashed in the religiosity inside, outside there was langar going on which was run by well known Punjabi restaurant Kabila and another, Tandoor Wale. Apart from these, many enthusiastic members of the sangat were also running langars of tea and pakoras.

Even last year, a similar 29-hour long Kirtan Darbar was organized. Gurughar’s chief sewadar Bhai Harjot Singh Khalsa said he is eternally grateful to Akal Purakh for His blessings. He specially thanked Bhai Sukhwinder Singh and Bhai Nirpal Singh Muchhiana who performed the sewa of parking.

Even the Fremont Police also praised the arrangements made. He said praise was also due for the team volunteers Tarsem Singh ji who always comes to the aid of the Gurughar with his buses. Bhai Harjot Singh also praised Kabila Restaurant, Bhupinder Singh Italian, Bhupinder Singh A-One Interior Decoration and also GN Enterprises’ Gurdip Singh who, though he himself was in India, had contributed immensely over the last two years.

Among those whose without whose contribution the program could not have been such a stupendous success were Jai Singh, Ajmer Singh Nijher of 7/11 stores, Rampal Singh Singtax Wale, Dr Jotpreet Singh Shahi, Tejinder Singh Dhami, Kuldip Singh Bajwa, Balbir Singh Gakhal, Inderjit Singh, photographer Gurvinder Singh and many who served in the langar rows in untiring fashion.

Sangat had arrived from not just Bay Area but also Stockton, Tracy, Manteca, Modesto, Sacramento, Woodland and even from Yuba City.
