As you may have heard the announcements at the Gurdwara Sahib Sacramento, on behalf of our Sikh Community, we have formed a team called, "Sikh Americans For the Cure" to participate in annual Komen Walk for the cure of breast cancer. The walk will take place on May 8, 2010 at Cal Expo Grounds from 7:30 - 10 AM. Please note that this is the day before Mothers Day.

Komen Foundation raise millions of dollars every year for education, early detection and research for the cure of breast cancer which affects women of all races and ethnicity. All of us can identify someone in our extended family who is suffering or has suffered from this disease. We must all do our best to find a cure for this serious disease.

Sikhi principal of "Seva" calls upon all of us to participate in community service projects like this. Through Seva we are able to share other peoples pain, bond with others and elevate the profile of Sikhi.

You can sign up on line or in person. The step by step directions to sign up on line are provided. If you would like to sign up in person, you can do that until April 7, 2010 at the Gurdwara Sahib Sacramento, (West Sacramento). We urge you to sign up on line in the privacy of your home.

The signup fee is $35.00 per adult and $15.00 for children age 6 through 12. Everyone, who signs up, will get a T- shirt. If someone cannot walk on May 8, 2010, they can still sign up as "Sleep-in for the Cure", fee is $40.00 and they will get the T-shirt mailed to them at home and will be counted as a part of our "Sikh Americans For the Cure" team. So please join the "Sikh Americans For the Cure" Team walk with us and thousands others on May 8, 2010. Komen Race for the Cure – On-line Registration Directions

On-line registration deadline is April 23, 2010

The Best way to register for the race is on-line (deadline is April 23, 2010).
Please have a credit card ready when you start the on line registration process.

To register online go to www.komensacramento.org • Click on the “Race for the Cure” box, this will take you to the next page
• Click on “Register Here” this will take you to the next page
• Click on “I agree”, (after reading) this will take you to the next page
• Click on “Join a team” you will then be on a page that allows you to scroll down the list of teams (there are many teams) to Sutter Health,
• Click on “Sikh Americans for the cure" then
• Click on “Continue”.
• Complete the process as directed. I should be automatically notified that you have joined our team.
• Please send Surinder Sandhu an email at [email protected] to let her know that you have registered and your t-shirt size.

Paper Registration deadline is April 7, 2010
