A message from the SikhNet Stories Team

At SikhNet, our goal is simple yet deeply meaningful:
To make Sikhi feel accessible, joyful, and rooted in love for every child, everywhere.

Our latest rhyme, Seva Time – Chardikala Rhyme, is more than just another animated video.
It’s a gentle, intentional way to introduce toddlers and young children to one of the core values of Sikh life: Seva — selfless service.

Why We Chose Seva

For many children, rhymes and visuals are their first language, the way they begin to understand the world and their place in it.

That’s why we did not pick Seva as a lesson. We chose it as a value to live by.

Seva is not occasional. It’s not about recognition. It’s about showing up with humility, with love, and with intention.

Gurbani reminds us:

“One who performs selfless service, without thought of reward, shall attain their Lord and Master.”
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 286)

What Children Will See

In Seva Time – Chardikala Rhyme, Seva is not confined to the Gurdwara Sahib. It expands into everyday life:

  • Inside the Gurdwara: washing dishes, sweeping floors, serving langar
  • Outside the Gurdwara: feeding birds, planting trees, helping someone cross the street, caring for animals

Because Seva lives wherever compassion lives.

A Small Request for Parents & Caregivers

Please don’t just let this rhyme play in the background.
Watch it with your child. Talk with them. Reflect together.

Simple questions can open beautiful conversations:

  • “What kind of Seva do you want to try?”
  • “Who can we help as a family this week?”
  • “What does Seva feel like in your heart?”

These small moments become the sangat (holy assembly) of your home.
And they show your child that Sikhi is not a subject, it’s a shared journey.

It’s perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and families beginning their Sikhi journey.

Watch it. Talk about it. Practice even one act of Seva together this week.
Because every rhyme is a seed. And every small act of Seva nurtures a spirit in Chardikala.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
