The 1984 attack on the heart of Sikh faith, the Akal Takht Sahib, is in the memories of all Sikhs. The sorrow that Sikhs feel can only be realized by fellow Sikhs because our respect and connection to Darbar Sahib and the Akal Takht go beyond words, it is something that binds us all together.

Prejudice that plagued Punjab
by Kamalpreet Kaur Sabrah

BOOM! BANG! BOOM!
What cursed is the matter?
RED, RED, RED
Dry blood merged in soil,
Organs spilt here,
accolades of gore-some guts under the stairs.

My beloved,
Them who made my chest swell in pride,
Martyred?!

Wretched were the murderers
Blood-lusting little monsters!
From Time to Time, and the Time after Time,
Blood of the Blissful baths
the blood-stained terra firma

The warriors
Raised from the double-edged dagger
Put needs of self to ignorance…

Alas!
The Prejudice that plagued Punjab

Her sons- the feeders of nation
And continent
Starving along their brethren
Their water - taken from the Thirsty
to be fed to the thirsty
Thirsty and thirsty,
Divided by spectacles of religion.

Enough be enough
Graced by the 10 Angels
the harbinger of Hope arose

Terrorist! Traitor! Criminal!
Lament labels amass

United the lions roared
Shaking the foundation of the Red Fort.

Black roses her crown
and poppies her gown-
The murderer of Guru Ramdas's town.

In fear and fright and
Fire of hatred,
Carefully the spiders webbed
A Plan.

"Turn the 5-Rivers Red,
Coat Mount Everest in their blood."

Commemorating the Fifth,
Masses gathered in
Temple of Hari-
they dipped in the nectar pool,
and bowed to the Sikhi school.

Our homeland- here we are no slaves.

Fateful that night,
the sky wept tearlessly,
Trees hung low in grief,
Birds screamed and screeched.

Throne of Almighty
Bombed

Curse the limbs
Allowed which you to aim
The High-Authority.

Army like bees,
Lined the structure...

"Disclaim your identity, and walk away!
Disgrace aeons of history, and walk away!
Denounce Gobind Singh, your Guru, and walk away!"

'Death, I am derived from!
Fear, I free the world of!
Justice, I weave with Kirpan!'

The bloodbath of Amritsar,
Death of
Souls that will forever live!

Bullets drilled
his coat.
The lion took his last breath -
Fighting for
Deserved and long due respect-his people's!

Tyrants too,
not forever live.
Haunting innocent souls
Wailed and whispered her every sleep.

Shelled and roasted
with bullets,
Black blood as beelzebub
bleeds

Never forget the 1984 genocide,
because it HAD no end...
