Gurmeet Singh, a miniature artist with replica of destroyed Akal Takht |
A miniature artist has created a replica of the Akal Takht in Amritsar to highlight its condition at the time of 1984's Operation Blue Star. The replica model measures just one and a quarter inch long and one inch wide.
Gurmeet Singh chose to display his artistic skills on the occasion of 26th anniversary of Operation Blue Star which was carried out to flush out militants from inside the Akal Takht.
He has used silver and gold in moulding this miniature of the damaged Akal Takht.
"The model's depth is one inch while the width is 1.25 inch. It weighs 18.5 grams, out of which, 18 grams is silver and 600 milligrams is gold. It took me three to four days to make it. I spent 2,000 to 2,500 rupees to make it," said Gurmeet Singh.
"I made this model to console myself a bit. Whenever I see this, I remember that time," said Gurmeet Singh.
"I made this so that I can tell the young genration that what all had happened to us and we have not got justice till now. It has been 26 years now," said Gurmeet Singh.
Singh intends to get his replica registered in the Guinness Book of World Record.
