Imphal, July 10 2011: The 18 SIKH regiment under 9 Sector Assam Rifles IGAR (S) in association with Wangoi Police and local youth clubs today organised a 10 km run under the name Mayai Lambi Peace and Prosperity Run.
The event was organized to commemorate the Kang Festival and for Peace and Prosperity for the people of Manipur.
The event witnessed enormous volunteers with around 500 children below fifteen years and more than 400 youths from Wangoi area participating in the event.
Commanding Officer 18 SIKH graced the function as Chief Guest.
Addl SP Pushpanjali IPS and SDPO Singjamai, Vikramjit also attended as presidium members.

The event was organized under three categories which were namely Men, Women and Children (Under 15 yrs).
The run was followed by a prize distribution ceremony in which the first 5 runners in each category received prizes.
CO 18 SIKH along with Addl SP Pushpanjali IPS, distributed prizes to the front-runners along with which, many consolation prizes such as Books, Pencils, towels etc. were also distributed to most of the runners who participated in the event.
The entire event witnessed full medical cover which was provided by the Medical Team of 18 SIKH regiment.
Finally the icing on the cake was the small cultural program organized by the youth with the theme of Peace and Prosperity which included dance and a martial arts display.
All in all, the event was a major success which was appreciated by one and all.
The local population also added that such interactions between the security forces and public will definitely see a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur.
