A SCOTS contestant on Britain's Next Top Model has claimed the show's producers exploited her religion for a controversial lingerie shoot.

Harleen Nottay, a Sikh, was eliminated in last night's episode, just missing out on a place in the final 10.

The business studies student of Roslin, Midlothian, was in tears as she was given the boot from the show.

But she says her lowest moment came when she had to simulate a threesome earlier in the series.

Harleen, 19, said: "Whereas a lot of the girls just had to stand next to male models and pose, I was put on the bed, rolling about, straddling the guy, all that stuff.

"I definitely think I had the most revealing, most intense situation and I found it unfair that I was put into the worst scenario there could have been.

"I'd said that I wouldn't mind doing lingerie and swimwear but naturally they would be aware that I'd be uncomfortable with it because of the background that I come from and the backlash there might be against me from the community.

"So I think for the story and the entertainment of it all, that's what they got me to do.

"They are making a TV show and I truly believe it's an entertainment show more than a modelling show."

Viewers saw Harleen complain she felt "degraded" after the photoshoot and her distress was echoed by other contestants on the reality show.

Hannah Goodeve called her mother in tears telling her: " I feel exposed, I feel disgusting." She walked out of the show two days later.

Another contestant, Amelia Thomas, compared the experience to "one big orgy".

One of the judges, stylist Grace Woodward, told Harleen: "If you want to get on in this industry, no matter the way you've been brought up, you have to do your job to the Nth degree."

But Harleen said it wasn't easy for her to shrug off what had been a traumatic experience.

Although she says her family aren't conservative, she asked her elder brother not to watch the episode.

She said: "After doing the underwear shoot, I found it really hard to come to terms with what I'd done.

"I was worried about what my mum and dad would say. I found it very difficult to do, but they were so supportive."

Harleen's exit last night was unexpected, as it was her first time in the bottom two contestants.

She had been the last Scot on the show following the departure of Jennifer Smith, of Dunfermline, earlier in the series.
