Oct 15th, 2010: On Sunday, October 24th, the first Global Oneness Day will be celebrated. I am excited about this because I am a firm believer that once we realize that we are all connected, the energy of separation can begin to be dismantled. From my point of view, it is imperative for us to remember that what we do and think affects the whole.
This one day feels like a great opportunity to begin to place our attention on what we want to create.
When I was growing up, no one told me that I was part of a universal tribe called humanity. No one told me that my attitudes, thoughts and actions impacted the world. No one told me that by committing to being a positive person, I could make a difference in my community and, ultimately, on this planet. After many years of intense personal work and education, I now know that every person has the capacity to change the world for the better. We are all here to share our unique qualities and skills. This might be a powerful time to join forces and expand the lights we shine.
Please join me in celebrating Global Oneness Day. All of us, from our local communities on that day, can hold the vibration for Oneness together. This is also United Nations Day. Ambassador Chowdhury, the leading emissary of the U.N. Culture of Peace Initiative since his presentation at the inaugural launch of the Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence at the U.N. in 1998, received the Global Oneness Day petition signed by more than 50,000 people in more than 150 countries. He said, “I believe that unless we have the sense of solidarity among the peoples of the world, all our efforts of peace and security will go nowhere.”
So, we have a beautiful opportunity for individuals and organizations to create practical acts demonstrating unity, diversity, harmony and compassion on a shared date. If you are ready to move deeper into Oneness, take some time on October 24th and commit to celebrating and sharing the idea of unity. I am clear that it all begins with the individual’s heart. Together, we will create transformation.
