Baru Sahib,The Divine Valley of Peace, located in the underdeveloped region of Himachal Pradesh celebrated Baisakhi with great enthusiasm. The three day long programme attracted thousands of devotees from all over the country, well wishers and the local people to this remote region.
The programme began with the Akhand Path
on 12th April. Gurmat kirtan, kavi darbar, katha and numerous religious
activities continued on all the three days. On 14th April there were
over ten thousand who participated in the Nagar Kirtan which was a
grand event. The mile-long procession included children from Akal
Academy,Akal College Of Engineering and Technology, Gurmat vidhyalaya
girls,local school children and thousands of devotees. Boys and girls
put up a thrilling performance of gatka and martial arts with
blindfolded daring acts.Girls of the Gurmat Vidhalaya presented a
formal guard of honour supported by band and kirpans to GURU GRANTH
SAHIB JI.
91 volunteers were baptized through Amrit Sanchar.
In the evening there was a grand
wrestling event which attracted wrestlers of national and international
repute from Punjab,Haryana and Delhi. Thousands of spectators were
thrilled to watch the fiercely contested fights which they had never
seen earlier.
The Gurudwara complex was beautifully
lighted and decorated. Guru ka Langar continued round the clock with
kirtan and devotional music bringing peace and inner joy.
All those who were fortunate to attend Baisakhi at Baru Sahib will remember the event for a very long time.
