The 3HO UN Non-Governmental Organization campaign launched Langar Chile which provides hot food and emotional support to the people of Chile through counseling and alternative therapies.
Previously Langar Chile served meals to the homeless one day a week, but now volunteers are cooking and serving about 400 meals a day for families left homeless in Constitution, Curanipe and other nearby locations affected by the last earthquake on February 27, 2010.
The partnership initiative coordinated by Chile's Kundalini Yoga Association will be complemented with emotional and spiritual therapists who have been convened especially for this action by 3HO and Sikh Dharma Chile.
Langar Chile is grateful for crucial help from United Sikhs, which until now has been helping to distribute food in Haiti following the earthquake in that country. However, to to continue serving hot meals, Langar Chile needs both donations and volunteers to enable it to move south for at least two weeks, cooking meals for people in other damaged locations and providing counseling and other healing therapies.
With the distribution of food in the south, Langar Chile will expand the service it performs every Thursday in the Vega Central area of in Santiago, where for more than five years it has fed hundreds of people living in street.
3HO and Sikh Dharma Chile continue their support of this community work in Chile.
