The most important and major festival of the Sikh Community across the  world ``SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS'', the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh Religion, who spread the message of peace and communal harmony over the world is going to be celebrated on a grand and mammoth scale in Andhra Pradesh from October 31 to November 2, 2009.

To mark the important occasion, the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj have joined hands to make the celebrations a grand success.

In this context a colourful ``NAGAR KEERTAN'' (RELIGIOUS PROCESSION) will be held at 2.30 pm on October 31, 2009 from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj to Gurudwara Sahib to Secunderabad.

On the day of birthday which falls on November 2nd, a grand ``VISHAAL DEEWAN'' (MASS CONGREGATION) will be held at N.T.R Stadium, Indira Park from 10 am to 4.30 pm on November 2nd, 2009.

Nagar Keertan on October 31, 2009


The Prabhandak Committee, Presidents, S. Baldev Singh Bagga (GSS) and S. Gurucharan Singh Bagga (GSGSS) and Committee members said that a mass ``Nagar Keertan'' will be taken out on a grand scale on October 31 at around 3 pm from Gurudwara Saheb Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj and will proceed via Central Gurudwara Gowliguda, Putlibowli, Jambagh, M J Market and Exhbition Grounds.

From here the procession will be converted into a rally and proceed via Nampally, Ravindra Bharathi, Tank Bund, Ranigunj, MG Road, Paradise to Manju Theatre. Here the rally will be converted into Nagar Keertan (Holy procession) and proceed viaNatraj talkies, Clock Tower, Secunderabad and reach Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad in the evening.

Over 25,000 to 30,000 devotees will take part in the procession. Guru Granth Saheb Ji will be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with ``Nishaan Sahebans."

The Procession will be marked by the rendering of Shabad Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men, women and youths. Besides that ``Panj Pyaras'' (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will lead the procession.

The major attraction of the procession will be the Gatka display and other breathtaking sword exercises all along the procession by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and Special Gatka Party from Punjab will also exhibit their Gatka skills.

As the main Birthday Celebrations Guru Nanak Devji falls on November 2nd, 2009 a ``VISHAAL will be held at N.T.R Stadium, Indira Park from 10 am to 4 pm on November 2nd, where over 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh Devotees and other community faiths will converge at the programme.

The event will be marked by the recitations of Gurbani Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) who are being specially invited from various parts of the country to render shabad keertans.

Bhai Davinder Singhji Sodhi of Ludhiana (Punjab), Bhai Jasbeer Singhji of Paunta Saheb wale, Bhai Mangal Singhji and Bhai Hari Singh Hazuri Ragi Jathas and other reputed Ragi Jathas will recite shabad keertans and Kathas and throw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus.

After the culmination of the congregation Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to the devotees.

Night Keertan Darbars On November 1 And 2, 2009

NIGHT KEERTAN DARBAR : On November 1, a Night Kirtan Darbar (Night
Congregation) will be held at Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad from 7.30 pm to 11 pm in which above said renowned Ragi Jathas wil rendered keertans and kathas followed by Guru ka Langar.

NIGHT KEERTAN DARBAR : On November 2, a Night Kirtan Darbar will be held at Gurudwara Saheb Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj from 9.30 pm to 1.30 am in which above renowned Ragi Jathas will rendered keertans and kathas followed by fire works display.
