As misunderstood as Sikhs are in America and as many hate crimes we see as a result it also seems that especially in the last 10 years there has been so much exposure of Sikhs in the media. This is the story of one family who is helping to create that exposure through a children's book called 'Hair Twins' which illustrates the relationship between a Sikh father and his daughter.
Recently 'Good Morning America' shared a video feature about the book:
Raakhee Mirchandani wrote “Hair Twins,” which explains why men like her husband Agan wear turbans and don’t cut their hair.
"When I think about what has inspired me to write this book, it's really my daughter. I have found her story and my story lacking on the book shelves many times. I know what that feels like as a little kid to not see yourself in books, or movies, or music, or TV shows..."
This father daughter tribute will not only be a cherished treasure for this family but surely will give heart to many Sikh families, as well as bring about more Sikh awareness.
