Canada Day, the Turban Way

University of Waterloo Sikh Student Association celebrated Canada Day by crowning students and University Personnel with Turbans in the main student center of the University. About 380 turbans and over 1000 m long were tied in less than six hours.

A visual presentation showing the Sikh values of equality, justice and community and how that matches with Canadian values was shown throughout the day.

Every student who came was also given a fact sheet on Sikhism and the importance of Turban right at the beginning.

During the turban tying, the volunteers then could answer any questions that arose about what we stand for and why we wear the turbans.
