Last month, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had released a commemorative silver coin to mark the 300th martyrdom day of Banda Singh Bahadur.
VIJAYAWADA, July 4, 2016: A Telugu book written by former ex-serviceman and popular writer Katuru Ravindra Trivikram on Sikh General Baba Banda Singh Bahadhur was released by Member of Parliament Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) at the gurdwara at Gurunanak Colony on Sunday. The book highlights the life of a Sikh warrior who was known for protecting Hindus from the Mogul empire.

“The book is released commemorating the 300 years of military commander’s martyrdom. All over the country this day is celebrated with pomp and gaiety,” said Harmohinder Singh Sahani, president of the Sikh community.

Narrating the heroics of the warrior, Mr. Sahani said that as per the diktat of Guru Govind Singh, the Nanded-born Sadhu raised an army and proceeded to Punjab to kill the culprits responsible for the killing of Guru Govind Singh’s sons and father.

Mr. Sahani said the community was keen make the book available in all schools and libraries in Andhra Pradesh and has printed 3,000 copies. “The cover price of the 100-page book is Rs. 50,” he added.

Mr. Ravindra said he took 15 days to write the book. “For the readers the book will be an engrossing one as I wrote in a historical novel style”. Incidentally, this septuagenarian writer had written books on Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Govind Singh and Guru Arjun Singh and as Air Force man fought two wars in 1965 and 1971.
