Awards held to celebrate the positive contributions made by inspirational young people in Birmingham.

Inspirational young people who have made a difference to the city were honoured at the Inspire Birmingham Awards 2014 on Thursday.

The Inspire Birmingham Awards 2014 were held at Villa Park and saw the cream of the crop of talented, hard-working, motivational and kind-hearted youngsters getting rewarded during the glittering ceremony.

The Mail joined forces with the Birmingham Leadership Foundation and sponsors Royal Bank of Scotland to recognise the positive contributions of young people aged 15 to 30.

People were asked to nominate a young person they knew for one of the seven awards up for grabs.

The compere for the evening was ITV weather presenter Lucy Kite and guests of honour were Lord Mayor Coun Mike Leddy and his wife, the Lady Mayoress Pauline Leddy.

In the Arts and Culture category for achievements in art, film, music and theatre, the winner was David Poole, with the runners-up being Maria-Angela Wells and Truchio Powell.

The winner of the Community Leader award for unselfishly helping and empowering communities through volunteering and civic leadership was Hernam Kaur Najran, with the runners-up being Phaldip Singh and Selina Brown.

In the Young Educator category for teachers, educators, coaches or youth outreach workers providing valuable skills and training to other locals, taking the award was Jerrell Jackson with Ben Inshaw and Stacey Mountford named as the runners-up.

The Young Enterprise category for young businessmen and women giving back through business and enterprise was won by Daniella Genas, with Daniel Bridgewater and Rosie Ginday as the runners-up.

Young campaigner of the year for those making a positive difference through lobbying and campaigning was clinched Jawaad Ashraf, followed by Bradley Smith and Graeme Croton in second and third places.

Young fund-raiser of the year for those demonstrating leadership by raising money and awareness for worthy causes was given to Jamie Chapman, with Jessica Leach and Parbjoat Layal as the runners-up.

The Sports Leader Award was presented to Ryan Griffiths, with Daniel Harden and Shanan Ashraf taking second and third place.

The evening culminated with the handing over of the award for the overall winner which went to Hernam Kaur Najran, the winner of the community leader category.
