Camp Miri Piri in Malaysia - June 5th - 9th 2013

What do you get when you mix one-part meditation, one-part yoga, one-part sports, one-part exotic jungle camp and equal-parts love for Guru Hargobind Sahib?

  Camp Miri Piri 2013 !

Camp Miri Piri was founded in 2004 by the Sikh Sevaks of Singapore to give the youth an experience of the true Khalsa lifestyle. Rajveer Singh Khalsa and Guru Jaswant Kaur Khalsa continue to serve and inspire Sikh youth around the world to live in the brilliant light of Khalsa. This year, the camp is hosted and led by the inspiring teachers of Sikh Sewaks Singapore and Chayo Studio with the support of the Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia. Guest teachers include Sada Sat Simran Singh Khalsa and Harmandir Jot Singh Khalsa of Chardi Kala Jatha, Shanti Kaur Khalsa of New Mexico, and Gurutej Singh Khalsa of Singapore.

The camp day begins in the peaceful hours of the morning with a group recitation of the morning Sikh Banis followed by stretching and yoga exercises. With the sunrise, Gurutej Singh will take everyone for warrior games and his famous workout.

Throughout the day there will be inspiring classes, group discussions, and workshops conducted by the camp teachers. There will be sports and chill-out time including afternoon games. In the evenings, the camp will echo with blissful kirtan and katha.

Camp Miri Piri will be held from the 5th to 9th of June 2013 at the Sikh Naujawan Sabha Center in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Malaysia. This is the 9th Camp Miri Piri and the high vibrations begin the minute the sangat gathers in the Guru's presence. The camp is for ages 13 and up, and while there will be dozens of teenagers there, it really is a camp for all ages. All you need is the willingness and yearning to spend some focused time meditating, doing yoga, and connecting to people of consciousness.

I know Malaysia is a long way away - but what a GREAT opportunity to travel and meet sangat from that part of the world! It always amazes me that, although the Sikhs are spread out all over the world, in our hearts we are just the same. The sevadars in Malaysia will guide you and help you make plans so you can enjoy some sightseeing too.

The sangat everywhere is invited to join in a celebration of spirit, in the love of Guru Hargobind Sahib, and in the joy of being in the Sadh Sangat.

Mark your calendar, check out the details and register on line at www.campmiripiri.com. Participation is limited to 150 people, so register today!

Organization

SEWAKS-LOGO (39K)Sikh Sewaks Singapore is a government-recognized charity representing the Singapore Sikh Sangat, with a focus on youth development. The entire organization is run by Sikh youth on a fully voluntary basis. Sikh Sewaks Singapore is the National body for Sikh Youth that is funded entirely from donations by the Sangat.

When Singapore gained independence in 1965, the government saw the need for religious organizations to oversee the needs of the various religious groups in Singapore. The government thus encouraged the setup of organizations that would not only represent the various faiths, but to engage and develop their communities and thus implement innovative ideas to increase cohesion amongst Singaporeans as a whole. Initially, it was assumed that the impact of the Sikhs on Singapore’s society would be insignificant as we were a minority. However, a core group of Sikhs felt otherwise. They held fast to the belief that if we were not adequately represented, our community would disperse and the needs of Sikhs will never be addressed. Our Sikh youth would never be given the chance to grow within the Sangat nor be given the means to further improve themselves. ..............more
