ਸਿੱਖ ਕੇਸ ਕਤਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੇ?
ਸਿੱਖ ਰੋਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ।
ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਸਿੱਖ ਨਹੁੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ? ਇਹ ਵੀ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਨ ਨਾਲੇ ਦੋਨਾ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਇਕੋ ਜਹੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਇੱਥੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਸਾਡਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਏਹ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਏਹ ਹੈ ਕੀ ਕੇਸ ਰਖਣਾ ਰੋਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ। ਅਗਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਏਹ ਹੈ ਕੀ ਨਹੁੰ ਕੱਟਣੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹਨ ਲੇਕਿਨ ਕੇਸ ਨਹੀਂ। ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਨਹੀ ਖਾਣੀ, ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨੇ ਟੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ। ਇਕ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਨਹੁੰ ਏਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਦੂਜੇ ਹੱਥ ਤੇ ਰਗੜਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੜ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਲੇਕਿਨ ਵੱਡੇ ਨਹੁੰਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਸਾਬਣ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਹ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਧੁਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਜਿਦੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂ ਨਿਓਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਨਾਲੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਵੀ ਔਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੰਮੇ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਨਹੁੰ ਕਿਸੀ ਨੂ ਵੱਜ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਜ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਂਗਲ ਨੂ ਚੋਟ ਵੀ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹੁਣ ਗਲ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕੀ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੋਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਕਰਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਕੀ ਨੇ ; ਜਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਅਪਣੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਰੂਪ ਨੂ ਨਿਖਾਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਏਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾ ਲਏ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਆਲਸ ਹੈ; ਕੀ ਜੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਹੀ ਹੈ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਤੇਲ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਕੰਘਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਫ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ। ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨੂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ, ਢਕ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਲੰਮੇਂ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨੂ ਵੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੀ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੀ ਨੇ। ਨਾ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਅੜ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਨੂ ਵੀ ਚੋਟ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਲ ਹਟਾਉਣਾ ਸੌ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਦਿੱਸਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ ਨਾਲ ਠੀਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਵਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਗਾਇਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਪਰ ਸੁਧਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੱਧਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਬੀਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ‘ਤੇ ਵਾਲ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਦਿੱਖਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੀਏ — ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਲੱਗਣ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬਲਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸੰਕੇਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ। ਜੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਰੋਮ ਵਧ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਥੇ ਨਿਰਜੀਵ ਨਹੁੰ ਕਟੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਫ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਉਥੇ ਕੰਘਾ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਜੀਵ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੇਸ ਜੜਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਤਨ ਨੂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਾਜ਼ਗੀ ਦਾ ਇਹਸਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਵਿਚ ਡਟ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਜੀਅ ਵੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ, ਵਡਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁੱਖ ਸਿਰ ਢਕਿਆ ਹੋਣਾ ਆਦਰ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਸਦਾ ਢਕਿਆ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੰਭਣ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੋਪੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਡਾ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਅਨਾਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਣੇ ਹਨ ; ਬਚਾ ਕੇ ਰਖਣ ਲਈ ਸਬਤੋਂ ਸੌਖਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਤਰੀਕਾ, ਅਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਸਿਰ ਦਾ ਤਾਜ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ। ਕਸ ਕੇ ਉਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਾ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਤੋਹਫਾ ਸਾਡਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਏਕਾਗਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਖੋਪੜ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਆਵੇਗਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਅਪਣੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਉਣ ਦੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਜਾਚ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।

Why don’t Sikhs cut their hair?
Sikhs do not disrespect their body hair because they are commanded to live in the Will of God. Then a question arises: if that is so, why do Sikhs cut their nails? Nails also grow according to God’s Will, and both hair and nails are made of the same substance.
This is where we often get stuck. Perhaps may be our answer can be; the first point is that keeping hair and respecting body hair is the command of my Guru. The second point is that cutting nails is necessary, but cutting hair is not. Hair neither is used to eat food nor is it used in the toilet. The short nails of one hand, after being used for eating or cleaning, can still be thoroughly cleaned by rubbing with the other hand. But the inner parts of long nails cannot be fully cleaned even with soap; this leads to the risk of disease. Long sharp nails also make it difficult to do manual tasks. They can scratch others or even injure the fingers themselves.
Now the question is: why do some people cut their hair? The reasons are either to beautify the outward appearance so that the world accepts them, or simply laziness—not having the time or will to wash, oil, comb, and keep their hair clean. But Sikhs are instructed to keep their hair tied, covered, and pure. If long hair is just left open all the time, that too brings harm. Work cannot be done with focus, and if it gets caught somewhere, the head can be injured. Removing hair from other parts of body is 100 percent proof of trying to enhance our beauties or trying to hide hormonal imbalance if any which can be reversed with better lifestyle. Ofcourse hair growth can't be reversed but stopped further by improved lifestyle. So,we the bibiyaan should immediately start working on us when we start seeing significant growth of hair on our face instead of removing them, not to look better but to accept the signs our bodies are giving us. After all our efforts if still the growth doesn't stop it is totally the will of god which should be accepted as it is.
Just as nails cannot be kept clean without cutting them, the comb (kangha) removes the dead parts of the hair. Washing the hair from the roots not only refreshes the body but also brings freshness to the mind, creating the strength to meditate firmly on the Divine Name.
We remember and meditate on the Divine, believing our Guru-Father to be ever-present with us. Covering the head before elders is a way of showing respect, which is why the head should always be covered. Guru-Father gave us the most simple yet beautiful gift: the turban (dastar) as a crown for the head, to both preserve our hair and protect the skull in which our brain resides, the very place where the Eternal Sound resounds. When tied tightly, high, and strong, this gift helps us concentrate and also protects our head.
Guru-Father blessed His Sikhs with discerning wisdom (bibek budh) and the best way of living life.
