Seeking part-time Accounting Director to guide SikhNet’s financial growth. 

The job is in the offices of SikhNet’s headquarters in Espanola, New Mexico and is a part time position: 15-25 hours per week with flexible schedule that can be worked out with the SikhNet team.

What we want you to do…

You’ll be a critical member of a small team working to manage SikhNet’s growth, so that it can serve the growing needs of the Sikh community around the world. You’ll be responsible for leading all things financial and helping the SikhNet team plan and make good financial decisions.  We also want you to be an integral part of our team as we work on Sikhnet’s many community services by contributing your input and ideas.

The job involves the following responsibilities:


Book-Keeping

  • Process accounts payable

  • Track accounts receivable and write off any uncollectible donor pledges

  • Process monthly payroll

  • Process all payroll taxes, monthly/quarterly/annual - taxes and reports

  • Process W-2’s and 1099’s

  • Pick up checks from the SikhNet offices

  • Make bank deposits

  • Reconcile the bank accounts on a monthly basis



Financial Reporting

  • To create accurate and timely financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. These include:

  • Financial activity report for consolidated and department (class) results

  • Financial position report

  • Cash flow report

  • Ad-Hoc Reports for SikhNet Board of Directors

  • Provide detailed information on financial variances to management

  • Ability to create custom financial reports as needed, and the ability to provide interim financial data.

  • Create and Modify online Netsuite financial reports for SikhNet staff to directly view data needed for projects or other purposes

  • Work with CPA firm to provide all necessary financial information for annual tax filings. (990)


Financial Management

  • Work with a Netsuite consultant to set up Dashboards, KPIs and other quick reports in NetSuite and learning how to do some of these things yourself.

  • Manage the annual budgeting process

  • Work as the financial lead with the rest of the SikhNet team - ensuring that all policies, processes and cash management include best practices and ensure financial health.

  • Participate in SikhNet management meetings and board meetings

  • Work from an integrated understanding of SikhNet’s business plan to help achieve those goals financially.

  • 2-4 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience

  • Experience in accrual-based fund accounting to track income/expenses for different projects.

  • Expertise in NetSuite software preferred

  • Fast learner, self starter, organized and motivated to be able to work on your own.

  • A humble team player who is striving to both better yourself and serve the wider community at the same time.

  • Tech savvy skilled computer user. At ease learning new software or online website services.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Work in an accurate and timely manner

  • Comfortable in a group-oriented non-profit environment

  • Willing to ask for help when needed

  • Understanding of GAAP

  • Degree in accounting/finance is preferable

  • Willing to grow with the organization

  • Ability to do Forecasting
