Soraṯẖ mėhlā 5||
Guru Arjan Dev Ji in today’s Hukamnama tells us what happens when you connect yourself to God through Naam.

Karaṇ karāvaṇhār parabẖ ḏāṯā pārbarahm parabẖ su▫āmī|| Sagle jī▫a kī▫e ḏa▫i▫ālā so parabẖ anṯarjāmī. ||1||
He starts off by saying that God is the parbarahm - the one who causes all things to happen and moves within all things. And that, that energy which pervades through the entire creation. All the beings are created and absorbed back into the one who is the anṯarjāmī - the one who is aware of all things inside and outside.

Merā gur ho▫ā āp sahā▫ī.||
Then he says Merā gur ho▫ā āp sahā▫ī That my Guru is my refuge, and that I rest or lean on my Guru. And in that state of leaning on my Guru I feelsukh.

Sūkẖ sahj ānanḏ mangal ras acẖraj bẖa▫ī badā▫ī. || Rahā▫o||
I feel the bliss, the joy, the pleasure, the deep, deep experience of peace within myself. And it fills me with joy. That is the verse that is repeated. TheRahao verse comes after that. He is reminding us of the experiences that we make during that connection.

Gur kī saraṇ pa▫e bẖai nāse sācẖī ḏargėh māne||
Then he says that under Guru’s protection you don’t experience fear anymore. That fear has literally dissolved. And that I have found my home in the Guru’s Darbar – court of the Guru. And in the court of the Guru what do we do?

Guṇ gāvaṯ ārāḏẖ nām har ā▫e apunai thāne. ||2||
We sing God’s praises, feel the devotion and adoration and experience that state of Naam where everything is God. There is nothing that is not God. And he says that this is our destination of our lives, to reach this place where we see God in all.

Jai jai kār karai sabẖ usṯaṯ sangaṯ sāḏẖ pi▫ārī. ||
And in that court of the Guru everyone is loving and praises each other and praises God. And in the Sat sangat I find the experience of joy and acceptance and love.

Saḏ balihār jā▫o parabẖ apune jin pūran paij savārī. ||3||
Then he says I am the servant of the one because Waheguru protects me everywhere under any circumstance. And protects my honor everywhere at any circumstance.

Gosat gi▫ān nām suṇ uḏẖre jin jin ḏarsan pā▫i▫ā.||
Then he sums up by saying that those who accept that gi▫ān - that inner understanding of how the universe works, that they experience that gi▫ān through Naam. And that in that state they have reached the destination of their life. And they see God in all.

Bẖa▫i▫o kirpāl Nānak parabẖ apunā anaḏ seṯī gẖar ā▫i▫ā. ||4||13||24||
In the final line he says that Nanak has been merciful and kind. God has been merciful and kind to him, to Nanak. He feels joy and ecstasy and that he has arrived at his true home.
