Dr. Jagir Singh was Deputy Director of Punjab School Education Board, Mohali. He is the editor of Amrit Kirtan magazine, under the aegis of Amrit Kirtan Trust, which is being published from Chandigarh since 1989. He was also appointed as Chairperson of Department of Gurmat Sangeet, Punjabi University, Patiala, from which post he retired on the 31st December, 2009.
