Bibi Amarjit Kaur (Virginia)

Bibi Amarjit Kaur is a celebrated female Ragi, known throughout the United States for her unmatched voice and musical style. She was born and raised in India, where she began her training in classical Indian music at a young age. She later pursued her passion for Gurbani Kirtan and dedicated her life to the practice. In the 1970s, Bibi Amarjit Kaur traveled to the United States, and started her journey of teaching Gurbani Kirtan to hundreds of music students in the West. She went on to obtain her Master's and PhD in Classical Indian Music - solidifying her expertise in the field. Today, Bibi Amarjit Kaur is revered as the most prominent female Ragi in the United States. Her performances are filled with the feeling of pure devotion and the purity of the Shabad Guru form. Her incredible harmonium and talented voice have graced Gurudwaras across the country, and she continues to inspire and uplift the hearts of all who hear her. Bibi Amarjit Kaur's musical style is a contemporary take on traditional Raag, which allows her to create a unique and powerful experience for listeners. She brings a fresh perspective to the classic Gurbani Kirtan, while still staying true to its roots and message.
