Bhai Amrik Singh Zakhmi was a prominent figure in the world of Gurmat Sangeet, with his music inspiring countless individuals on their spiritual journeys. He was born to the legendary Bhai Dharam Singh Zakhmi, who was one of the greatest Ragis of the 20th century, and learned Gurmat Sangeet from both, his father and uncle, Bhai Samsher Singh Zakhmi. During his father's lifetime, Bhai Amrik Singh provided vocal support and played the Dilruba with his Jatha. He later became one of the leading living exponents of Gurmat Sangeet in the world, captivating audiences with his melodious voice and soulful renditions of shabads. Bhai Amrik Singh Zakhmi passed away on November 10th, 2013 due to a brain hemorrhage, just eight months after the passing of his wife, Bibi Hardarshan Kaur. He is survived by his son, Bhai Harjot Singh, who is also a talented Kirtani, and his brothers, Pal Singh on the Dilruba and Amritpal Singh on the Tabla. Despite his untimely passing, Bhai Amrik Singh's legacy continues to live on through his inspiring music. His recordings and live performances remain highly popular among Sikh communities around the world, and his message of love, compassion, and devotion to Waheguru continue to resonate with listeners.
