Anhad

Anhad, a spiritual rock band that focuses on hymns from the Sikh scriptures, was formed by a group of friends who shared a passion for music and a love for Gurbani. The concept of Anhad, meaning the unstruck melody, was suggested by Hargobind's mother, Jaswinder Kaur, and it fit perfectly with their vision of creating music that blended Western and Sikh traditions. The members of Anhad have a special bond as they are all first cousins and Amritdharis. They started playing together at Across the Universe events and Kirtan on Wheels programs, and their sound evolved over time as they experimented with different styles and played with other musicians. Their music style is Western, and they have a plan to compile material for a CD, which was released in December 2010. They have about 3 to 4 practices a month in each other's homes, and more if they have an event coming up. Anhad's music is a unique blend of Western rock and Sikh tradition. Their songs are infused with messages of love, peace, and spirituality. Their music is a reflection of their spiritual journey and their connection to Gurbani. Anhad's music is not just about entertainment, it is also a way for them to share their spiritual teachings and spread the message of Sikhi. Their music is a way to connect with people from all walks of life and share their love for Gurbani. The unstruck melody that Anhad creates is a testament to the power of music and its ability to transcend cultural and religious boundaries. Their music is a fusion of two worlds that come together in a beautiful and harmonious way. Anhad's music is a reminder that there is beauty in diversity and that we can all come together through the power of music and love. You can listen to Anhad's music and spiritual teachings on SikhNet's Gurbani Media Center catalog.
