Personally, I am humbled and amazed by the time and talent that went into creating the films this year. The theme “onKaur” spoke to a lot of young people. They have given us, in return, a treasure trove of images and stories that celebrate the strength and power of the Sikh and Khalsa women.

The purpose of the Diversity Video Competition was to provide the public a space to engage in a dialogue on civil rights issues, stereotypes, and myths surrounding minority groups, including Sikhs. It is through this dialogue that the Coalition hopes to dissolve ignorance and spread awareness of discriminated minorities.

All entries must be received by September 15, 2010. No film experience is required to participate, and people of all ages are encouraged to submit.

Delhi's Damandeep Singh bagged the title of Mr. Singh International at the grand finale of the contest held at the Khalsa College grounds in Amritsar, Punjab, late Saturday.

The top 20-25 Sikh youth will qualify for the finals at Amritsar which is scheduled to be held on November 21, 2009.
