Speedy Singhs counts on three factors: a bunch of Sikh Canadians in Toronto wanting to excel at ice hockey without compromising their religious beliefs, a cross culture romance and comedy.

The film explores the sub conscious of a Sikh boy who is born and brought up in Canada. The second generation lad of an Indian immigrant family, Rajveer is confused about his loyalty and identity in life, and wants to mark his impression in Ice Hockey, a game dominated by whites.

Akshay, for the uninitiated, has an extremely strong Punjabi connect with his audience. Recently, the actor was in the news for giving away the title, Son of Sardar, to Ajay Devgn, even though it was registered with him and he didn’t want to part with it initially.

Mr. Badal said that these games were my passion and I have institutionalized the arrangement that these games become an Annual Feature in the Sports Calendar of the State. He said that the one of the main objectives of these games is to wean away the youth from drugs as well as a sedentary way of life by encouraging them to join sports as a movement.

Akshay Kumar, who is producing his first international film, Breakaway, has assembled an interesting cast -- led by ice hockey player Vinay Virmani. The film is currently being shot in Toronto.
