On Monday, the Obama Administration unveiled updated guidance on how federal law enforcement should address racial profiling. Rather than discarding the ineffective practice, the new guidance issued by the Department of Justice gives profiling a new lease on life.

I am a third-generation Sikh American, and as the ceremony drew to a close, I tweeted, “May this not be the last moment the nation watches and mourns with us. May this be the start of lasting solidarity.”

The Coalition testimony highlighted the fact that Sikhs are subjected to these searches 100% of the time at some airports around the country... The testimony also underscored the fact that while an array of law enforcement officials state that profiling is ineffective, profiling still occurs regularly.
