[VIDEO] Campaigners are calling for an English national memorial for the soldiers who died at the Battle of Saragarhi in British India - now Pakistan - in 1897.

"I can say with full pride that there is nothing better than our Sikh battalion. All of us thank you, because of you, we feel secure and safe," said Kapoor. "I just want to give you a big welcome to Mumbai that you have come all the way from J & K and I will pray God that you live with happiness, peace and with fun," he added.

When the history of this titanic struggle comes to be written in mature perspective, none of its many sides will, we believe, excite more wonderment and more ungrudging admiration than the part the Sikhs soldiers have played in it.
