At the dinner with my friends, we finished the conversation with a friend quoting a zen haiku: when a disciple says to his master, “I want happiness”, the master replies, “Take away the ego ‘I’, the desire ‘want’, and you are left with happiness.”
Every moment is precious.... every breath so blessed when I recite "Waheguru's" name... for tomorrow is not promised and I don't know if this breath I am breathing in will exhale out..... let me pray for his grace... and yes, let me savor every moment of this life.....

I cannot teach you how to pray in words. Prayer comes only from the heart. It is your mouth and your ears. God is the speaker and God the listener.

As a child, I remember that she held my hand when I wrote my first ‘Oorra’, and then I went on to write my name. She held my hand as she placed my forefinger on ‘Sa’, and then ‘Re’, and then I went on to sing a shabad....a few teachers leave us with jewels so precious that we cannot repay them; only hold their teachings in gratitude, with our heads bowed.
Once there was a king who thought he was the greatest man in the world. His adviser informed him that there was in fact a greater man than him. The king greatly wanted to know who this could possibly be, so they both went out to meet this person. It turned out to be an old man. He was very humble and poor, but he was a man of God. See how the old man taught the king what greatness truly is...
On this Mother's Day, I must open myself to learning life's insights from all the mothers in my life! I must listen to all of them more intently. I must speak to all of them more respectfully. I must treat all of them more divinely. What's more, I'd better learn quickly how to be more thankful!
