Pupils (173K)YOUNG learners had the chance to expand their knowledge by discovering more about Sikhism.

The children at Robert Peel Lower School in Sandy were visited by Sikh education officer, Harkirat Singh on Friday (April 1).

He visited every year group during the day so that everyone had the opportunity to be taught about the Sikh religion.

Headteacher, David Saunders, said: “He was really well received and he emailed me to say he had had a good day and he thought the children had too.”

Harkirat explained the different aspects of the Sikh religion and life as a Sikh.

David added: “The children learnt about how Sikhism is based on respecting each other. The main message was that it doesn’t matter which religion you are as long as you tolerate each other.”
