Personally, I am humbled and amazed by the time and talent that went into creating the films this year. The theme “onKaur” spoke to a lot of young people. They have given us, in return, a treasure trove of images and stories that celebrate the strength and power of the Sikh and Khalsa women.
Sitting in Guruka Singh's house last week, watching video after video, all of us felt deeply moved and also quite stunned. Stunned at the number of entries. Stunned at the quality of the work. Stunned at how much time, care, effort, thought and energy it took to make each one of these films.

...in celebration of the International Day of the Girl, representatives of SAFAR (The Sikh Feminist Research Institute) visited Khalsa School Surrey for a eighty minute dialogue with high school girls on the seemingly obvious question, “What is a Kaur?”
So what if you don’t measure up to society’s standards? The only standards you should care about are your own. If you want to find a boyfriend, get out and try! But if the journey takes longer than expected, don’t beat yourself up. Your special person is out there waiting for you and with Waheguru’s support, it’ll happen when it’s supposed to.
