Yuba CIty raises $5K for Punjab,s flood victims, more help is expected

Yuba CIty July 24th, 2010: Mandeep Singh Bajwa's (Dr Bajwa's son) high school graduation party turned into a fund raiser for the victims of recent flood havoc in the Punjab region of India.

Many guests, mostly members of Punjabi American Heritage Society felt the urge to help people back home who have been devastated by the floods.

There was a lot of discussion to whom to send the funds since most of the organization based in India have no accountability to American donors based on previous experience of many individuals.

Many PAHS members have in past donated to Katrina Hurricane, Gujarat quake, Tsunami and Kashmir quake victims.

It was decided to donate funds to United Sikhs Organization which has earned the respect by it's selfless service to victims of Haiti Earthquake and many other natural calamities.
