LOVE

O my mind, Life is engrossing for a lifespan, with all its dimensions of Maya in forms of happiness, vanity, pride, anger, lust, attachments, insecurities, control, anxiety, sadness, envy etc. These qualities run me from birth to my impending death. They are permanent yet their outcomes are transient. These outcomes serve me for a short time before I move on to a totally unrelated outcome driven by these control points. The word “My” encapsulates every nature of Maya and makes me feel like I am in control but actually my environment controls me. I suffer in my indulgence of Maya. The mind thru its senses is caged to serve the “I”. I am like that ship in sea without the keel and the balance.

I long for that master who can uproot this mind from its current indulgence. In His sanctuary, the ship balances itself. In his sanctuary, mind becomes like the lotus floating on water. His words remove suffering and anxiety. His grace and look captivate my senses and I no longer play this game. His presence silences the mind and makes it sit in contentment. His service makes me understand the divine way and the will. In His herd, I flow like water thru the least resistive path from the hill, with ease.

O Lord, the supreme being, your will reigns supreme. You caress, cherish and soothe the poor (spiritually and/or worldly). Fill my heart with so much love and longing for your sanctuary that my mind doesn’t play this game anymore. For it is love which removes the pain, for without love I am just a stone. Thru love I am in the sanctuary and in eternal peace, without any desires and sheltered from the grinding of life and death.

Many have come before me, some spent their life in scholarly pursuits others spent in worldly pursuits. This body rises from the soil and goes into soil and the opportunity is wasted unless you bless with your Love. O Master, the knower of all hearts, king of this world and the world beyond this, take everything which you have given but enshrine in this feeble heart your love. Pierce my heart with that arrow. Please accept this supplication from your virtue less, thick skinned, sinful and worthless being.

Shree Guru Granth Sahib Jee -- Ang 717

TODEE, FIFTH MEHL: O mother, the Guru's feet are so sweet. By great good fortune, the Transcendent Lord has blessed me with them. Millions of rewards come from the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. || Pause || Singing the Glorious Praises of the imperishable, indestructible Lord, sexual desire, anger and stubborn pride vanish. Those who are imbued with the Love of the True Lord become permanent and eternal; birth and death do not grind them down any more. || 1 || Without the Lord's meditation, all joys and pleasures are totally false and worthless; by the Kind Mercy of the Saints, I know this. Servant Nanak has found the jewel of the Naam; without the Naam, all must depart, cheated and plundered. || 2 || 8 || 27 ||

** Shree Guru Granth Sahib Jee -- Ang 167

GAUREE BAIRAGAN, FOURTH MEHL: Within my conscious mind is the constant longing for the Lord. How can I behold the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, Lord? The lord, who sowed the love knows that the Lord is very dear to my conscious mind. I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has re-united me with my Creator Lord ||1|| O my Lord, I am a sinner and have submitted at Your Door. My intellect is worthless; I am filthy and polluted. Please shower me with Your Mercy. ||1||Pause|| My demerits are so many and numerous. I have sinned so many times, over and over again. You, Lord, are the Merciful, Treasure of Virtue. If it pleases you, Lord, forgive me. I am a sinner and you keep me in the Company of the Guru. The Guru advices and bestows the Teachings of the Lord's Name, which saves me. ||2||What Glorious Virtues of Yours can I speak, O my True Guru. When I chant Guru Guru, I am transfixed with wonder.

The True Guru has protected and saved (from maya) , a great offender like me. Who else can save the way Guru saved me? O Guru, You are my father, mother, relative, companion and friend. ||3||

What condition I was in, you know fully. I was being wasted in dirt and nobody would listen to my pain and misery. O Guru, you took me, a lowly insect in your refuge, raised me. Blessed, blessed is the Guru of servant Nanak; meeting Him, all my sorrows and troubles have come to an end. ||4||5||11||49||
