Join us September 8th for 9/11 Unity Walk!
Great way to learn about different faiths!

We invite you and your faith community to join us at the 9/11 Unity Walk. Please see our invitation below. This is a FREE EVENT. We encourage you to share the invitation with any individuals, faith communities or anyone who you think may be interested! See video clips of Desmond Tutu and Tony Blair welcoming walkers at previous events on our website www.911unitywalk.org.

Unity Walk is a very family friendly experience and a great way for us all to learn about other people and faiths and to focus on what unites us rather than what divides us. There is great food and music (including the Mosaic Harmony Choir representing 26 different faiths and DC Poetry Slam).

Take the opportunity for a group from your community or individuals and families to visit houses of worship which are all open for visits, from the Synagogue where the Walk starts, to the Sikh Gurdwara where they serve a traditional meal, to the Orthodox and other Christian churches, a Buddhist Temple, the Mosque and Gandhi Memorial. It is an amazing field trip. There are several service projects to participate in, from a shoe drive to a gleaning project to a packing trail mix for the homeless. We will also be handmaking cards for Nelson Mandela during registration as well as shooting a video tribute. Our kids have been on it multiple times and they look forward to coming back every year.

If you would like to sponsor the Walk as a faith community (and have your logo on our website and be listed in the program) or make an individual donation, please visit our website. http://911unitywalk.org/donate/. We rely on donations from individuals and faith communities to put on this unique and powerful event. As a result of our experience on the Walk, our children organized an interfaith youth service group for teens which meets regularly for service projects to learn about each other's faiths, together with their families.

We hope you can join us this year. Please call if you have any questions! 301-580-0934 Dominique and Mike Rychlik

Please join us for the 2013 9/11 Unity Walk!

On September 8, 2013, you are invited to the 9th annual Unity Walk dedicated to the life of South African President Nelson Mandela, where our first creative act will be to produce a video tribute for the South African Ambassador.

See Desmond Tutu and Tony Blair (Tony Blair Faith Foundation) speak about the Unity Walk on our website http://911unitywalk.org/

Registration is open now on our website.

In a striking display of unity, every house of worship – every church, synagogue, temple, Gurdwara and mosque on Embassy Row opens their doors to each other and symbolically the world. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus , Buddhists, Baha’is, and more, come together to share delicious meals, hear speeches and make new friendships. The 9/11 Unity Walk offers a family-friendly event where people of all faiths or no faith put aside their differences, and share in a wonderful experience of learning and community service, including the dynamic interfaith youth service – CAIF!

Performances include Mosaic Harmony Choir (representing 26 different faiths), and the DC Youth Poetry Slam Team!

In a true testament to what is possible, the Unity Walk, brings together faiths in dramatic settings. Whether it’s opening with a Muslim call to Prayer in Washington’s largest synagogue, assembling trail mix for the homeless of our community at the regal Vatican Embassy, or learning about year-round interfaith youth service projects, the Unity Walk inspires us all.

Charitable activities include collecting shoes to be sent to those in need, bagging fresh produce and assembling trail mix to send to the homeless in our community. You’ll enjoy singing, dancing, meditation, Tai chi, and not least, delicious free Indian Food!!

SHOE DRIVE! Please bring new or gently used shoes for all ages.

We hope you will join us on September 8th! Register online today.
