Dr. Rajwant Singh (U.S.A) President of EcoSikh is on special visit to Punjab to launch the campaign and to celebrate third anniversary of ‘Eco Sikh’ here. He will visit Punjab and other states in India from June,13 to July,6.

It is pertinent to mention here that Eco Sikh is a response from the Sikh Community to the threats of climate change and the deterioration of the natural environment. The organization arose as a part of the long term plans for Generational Change Programme initiated in 2009 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Alliance of Religions and Conversation (ARC) to help the world’s major religious traditions create long term plans to improve their relationship with the environment.

During the visit, he will meet with prominent Punjab’s Political and religious leaders. He will also be meeting social activists and conducting several consultative sessions with various government and non-government organizations to launch an international campaign on Green Amritsar.

On June 30th EcoSikh will be celebrating its 3rd anniversary in Amritsar.

Last year in November, Amritsar joined the Green Pilgrimage Network as one of the nine founding member cities. Former DC Kahan Singh Pannu and other delegation represented the city at Assisi and this effort was spearheaded by EcoSikh.
