While Harbhajan said he had learned from his mistakes, the Indian spinner has shown no sign of backing down in the four-Test series against Australia beginning Thursday.

"Obviously when I play for my country I go out there to win games, I'm not there to make friends," Harbhajan said in a Fox Sports interview to air this week.

"So you'll expect the same sort of fighting spirit. I am very passionate about my game and I get involved in the game. I want to do everything right and I want to win each and every game for my country. That's the way I am and that's never going to change."

The man known as Bhaji was the chief antagoniser during last summer's volatile series in Australia, marred by racial accusations and threats of boycotts.

Singh said India will not back down on home soil.

"We have a very good side and we are probably the only team that have given them a run for their money," he said. "Every time they play against us, they know we are tough, especially when we play in India. We are a totally different team."

Harbhajan unveils some vulnerability, opening up on the personal history that has moulded him into the world's most controversial cricketer. He talks about how his father's death, his admiration for former Australian skipper Steve Waugh and his Sikh religion have fueled the "fighter" within him.

"We all make mistakes," Harbhajan said. "With time you learn about life and things which you regret later on, I shouldn't have done that.

"But I'm not someone like a god. I'm human, people make mistakes. I must have made mistakes and I'm sure I've learned from my mistakes."

Harbhajan has taken more Test wickets against Australia than any other country, enjoying the bulk of his success on Indian pitches. He points to Australia's 2001 tour of India as the series that not only changed his cricket, but his life.

Before that series his father passed away and he was contemplating quitting cricket to support his five sisters. He then took 32 wickets in the three Tests against Australia.

"Luckily I made a comeback against the Australian team in 2001 and from there onwards, touch wood, things have been very good and God has been really kind. I think he was a great father and I miss him. I'm sure wherever he is, he will be happy watching me play for India."

Harbhajan explained how his Sikh religion had also shaped his character.

"Being a Sikh, to go through the Sikh history, they have been warriors," he said.

"The same sort of blood is flowing in my body. I'm a Sikh, so I don't like to lose. I'm a fighter and I'll fight to the end."

Harbhajan said he grew up admiring the warriors of world cricket, none more so than Waugh.

"I think he's a great, great, great fighter, the best fighter I've ever seen on the field."

Meanwhile, Victorian allrounder Cameron White has been summoned to India to replace the injured Bryce McGain.

White, a hard-hitting middle-order batsman, can also bowl leg-spin although he isn't a big turner of the ball.

The Victorian captain played in the one-day matches on the Australia A tour of India last month, and has been an irregular member of Australia's one-day international and Twenty20 squads.

White was selected ahead of NSW chinaman Beau Casson, who was overlooked, despite making his Test debut in the West Indies this year.

White was also on the 2004 tour of India, but didn't play a Test.

He is expected to join his Australian teammates in Bangalore tomorrow and is likely to figure in Test calculations because of the worrying form of Jason Krejza in the tour match against the Indian Board XI.

McGain will arrive home early this week to rest a sore shoulder which is likely to prevent him bowling for more than a month.

White's Victorian teammate Peter Siddle will have to wait for his famous baggy green cap, but at least he looked the part against the Indian Board XI.

Siddle and Krejza wore new caps designed for squad members yet to play a Test.

It was designed after Cricket Australia had been accused of "selling the baggy green" after players wore a blue beer sponsor's cap in the opening match of the West Indies tour this year.

haterzz!!!

Mr.K.J u dont make any sense , please go n carry on reading ur swami vivekanada and bhagwat geta novels!!!!

Harbhajan Singh Ji has destroyed the image of the name "Singh"

I am no lover of foot ball or cricket since none of our Gurus were engaged in such sports, (a person hitting a ball with a piece of wood and running ,) this foolish sport was worst than the occupation of the British into India for over 200 Years , it has literally destroyed the rich spiritual culture of the holly land of India . Cricket have replaced Wahaguru, , I remember once reading a book written by Swami Vivekananda ( a meat eating brahman) in which he spoke about playing football instead of surrendering and serving God, and it shocked me, Vivekananda’s demoniac materialistic teachings drove Bengal to hell making West Bengal communists or Godless , today cricket is destroying the young minds of a nation of One Billion people of which over 50% are youths. India today is a misguided civilization spending billions of dollars to compete with a Godless nation as China while over 300 million of its people dalits in particular starve, I am sadly reminded of the words of noble laurite Sir Vidya S. Naipaul “India is a wounded civilization” (Vidya Har Suraj Naipaul Maharaj a Vaishnava Brahmin by birth) As a truthful “Singh” I am deeply saddened by the arrogant manner in the way Harbhajan Singh Ji speaks and acts, he needs to remove the last name SINGH from his title because he has no humility, a quality deeply rooted in each and every pious Sikh on the planet, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was fighting against tyranny, he was no Nationalists as members of the Sang Parivar thinks. No pious Sikh has ever embraced “Evil Nationalism" as the BJP Materialist Brahmins do. Harbhajan Singh Ji is being influenced by rogue politicians and he is full of false ego, he is extremely arrogant and disrespectful, He needs to understand that it is Wahaguru who win wars and not Harbhajan Singh Ji, These are strong words but I was compelled to make these statements in order to preserve the Integrity, and Reverence associated with the spiritual title "Singh" No other name in India has the power and respect as the name ”Singh”…none!! This spiritual name given to as by God through Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Should be cherished and not be associated with cheap Brahmanical Nationalism as found in the Sang Parivar followers of NathuRam Godse the RSS. One should not be confused with patriosm and loyalty to ones country, First comes God, second family, and third nation, its the American way, its also the Sikh way, do not be influenced by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, he is described as a 'naradhama" in the Bhagavad Gita the lowest of mankind, His followers the Vishva Hindu Parishad is responsible for all innocent Sikh, Muslim, and Christian being burnt alive, raped, and homes burnt all across India. Vivekananda’s Buddhist -Voidist philosophy teaches when the light of the candle is blown out every thing is finished there is no re-incarnation, but Re-incarnation and Karma is unquestionably the basic tenant of Sikhism. Harbhajan Singh Ji is into Maya (He is classified as a Manmukh in Sri Guru Grant Sahib Ji and he probably does not know it. Nor does he know that all of this Nationalism and Evil Brahmanism came from a Hindu materialist Brahmin such as Rogue Swami who preach Voidist philosophy and eat Beef. Most recently his statue was placed in the Parliament Building in India. A despicable act on the part of Hindu politicians , I have read every single book written by Vivekananda along with hundreds of other books by other philosophers, and I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt, that Brahmins such as Vivekananda destroyed pure love of God and deceptively packaged atheism all in the name of Hindu religion. What is worst is his Guru Ramkrishna had sex with prostitutes in Bengal and he called them the Holly mother, referring to God as the poor man in the street of India. Harbhajan Singh Ji being influenced my Nationalism is capable of burning and raping people alive as members of the RSS does all in the name of nationalism. This is very sad. We must pray for India.
