ASR CHARITABLE TRUST ASR Charitable Trust, started by a family in Manchester in 2006, is registered both in UK and in India, with several projects mostly based in and around Amritsar in the Indian state of Punjab. Since 2006 ASR has run a free 'dispensary' or GP surgery-like clinic, in Goindwal Sahib, a remote village in Punjab, serving local residents and visitors to the historic local Gurdwara (Sikh temple) seven days a week. The Trust provides two teachers at the Central Khalsa Orphanage in Amritsar, and funds students' degrees.

ASR holds several medical camps each year. First Aid Camps are held outside the Sri Harmandir Sahib ('Golden Temple') in Amritsar for 48-72 hours around major festivals.

There is a First Aid Camp every Saturday night outside the main entrance at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Two to three multi-speciality camps are held twice every year generally in Easter and Christmas holidays, in which specialists see hundreds of patients attending the camp, with assessment and treatment provided free of charge. ASR has funded over 300 cataract operations so far, including some on children.

Many other types of operations are also performed free of charge. Patients are even transported from the place where the camp is held to the hospital where the operations are performed and arrangements are made for their stay and meals as well. Spectacles are provided free of charge to needy people.
