SikhNet OfficeLaughter and cries of "Waheguru!" resounded through the SikhNet office as staff and guests gathered 'round the monitors to watch this year's SikhNet Youth Film Festival films together with hundreds of viewers all around the world. Held as a real-time event on the Web for the first time ever, the festival afforded young film makers and their audiences a degree of intimacy not possible with the asynchronous viewing of videos posted online, such as on YouTube.

On Saturday and Sunday, September 13th and 14th we held six online broadcast sessions showcasing selected films from this year's festival submissions. In the real-time chat room, viewers and film makers alike greeted each other, joked, commented and voted for their favorite films. Viewers joined us from India, the U.K., Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

Film Festival BroadcastGurumustuk Singh and Guruka Singh hosted the live event on the virtual "red carpet" as the screenings took place. The featured films from first timers, veterans and film makers as young as Kirat Singh (age 11) can still be viewed online and we invite you to do so now.

The final judging is taking place soon and the festival winners will be announced before the end of the month. We at SikhNet extend our appreciation and admiration to all the young film makers who submitted films this year.
