This year we want to give an equal chance to different types of film makers. In the past it was difficult for a funny video to compete for 1st prize with a dramatic video. So we have given 3 categories an equal chance of winning $1,00o. That is $1,000 each for a film that makes people Laugh, makes people Cry, or makes people Think. That means there is a total of $3,000 to win.

Comedy
Does it make you laugh? Every comedy needs to make the person laugh, but don’t forget to have a strong message.
Drama
Does it make you cry? Dramas don’t have to make you sad. What we mean by this, is does it move you? Does it get an emotional reaction out of you?
Documentary
Does it make you think or learn? It can be informative, or interesting.
Your film may move people’s emotions as well as make them think and be informative, while including a few jokes. Every good film has multiple elements. When you decide which category your film is in, as yourself the question: What does this film make me do the most: laugh, cry, or think? Is it primarily funny, moving, or informative/interesting?
* Intermediate Film Makers (Ages 18-28) – The 3 categories of Laugh, Cry, and Think are awards given to the Intermediate Category only. Junior and Senior films will be judged for best film only.
