Crowning Glory Of Turban. East meets West

Crowing Glory - directorCrowning Glory Of Turban. An awareness on turban was created in Luiss university,Rome,Italy where in students participated in numbers and got a taste of cultural heritage from India.
It was a moment of wonderful feeling of sharing the cultural heritage in one of the reputed universities in Rome, Italy when on 28th April 2009, an occasion on Turban was marked to bring awareness on the cultural heritage from the region of Punjab, India. The day started with incessant rain which was thought to be a mood spoiler but it proved out to be blessing in disguise as the original open location was shifted to one of the largest rooms of the University at Viale Romania. Luiss Guido Carli is a famous international university of Rome where students from many different corners of the world come to attend undergraduate, graduate and post graduate courses. It is also one of the most expensive universities known for its superb, state-of-the-art facilities for its students.

This experience helped me a lot in making this useful video.

What’s great about this video is the fact it shows how many people who are non-Sikhs are willing to learn about the religion and try on the turban, when so many youngsters born in the Sikh family are not willing to wear the turban. Great video!

To answer Simranjit’s questions, I would say, The occasion was actually planned for 13th April ‘09 on the event of Baisakhi and International Turban Day and since Easter was on this very same day. University allowed me to hold this small fest on 28th April. Though by little delay by few days, I was successful in securing the permission from the university management to allow me to bring an awareness on Turban and culture associated with it, which was also being misrepresented due to Taliban in recent times. Seeing the importance of the awareness and the day and getting all the assistance from the university cultural activities office, an email from university was sent to all the students about this event. The fortunate day came and many joined and mixed up. They recorded their positive feedback and now surprisingly, they want me to hold another similar turban day. That was indeed a beautifull day to share some messages from the Holy and intellectual land of Punjab. No, I didn’t do any presentation other than playing some shabads in the background from youtube. Full article can be read at Sikhnet or be searched in Google.
