| I want to ask my new Sikh brothers and sisters from the Western background that how do they feel about being Sikh amongst Sikhs pre dominantly from Punjabi origin? . I have seen the western Sikhs facing intolerance from our own Sikh community. Yesterday I was talking to our Granthi ji and he told me how he met one ex-sikh from western background who later converted to Buddhism and one reason he said why he converted to Buddhism was because he thought that Sikhs haven’t accepted him in the last 13 years, there is cast system and then much of tribal mentality. I agree. He was concerned where would his kids go and get married. It feels great to see western Sikhs in their Bana sometimes at Gurudwara, but I rarely see them. I see why they don’t participate amongst Punjabi dominated Gurudwras is because many Punjabis ask them questions about yogi bhajan and yoga and give them a hard time. I mean no body is true Sikh and we still are on the path. Don’t you think we can have a dialogue here if possible? We are again getting divided here in west as we are in Punjab. There is a lot for Punjabis to learn from sikhs from westren hemisphere. I feel awkward why should "westren" sikhs have their own sangat and "Punjabi" sikhs have their own. I would like to have your views and concerns. |
