A recent “expose” by Wikileaks mentions the existence of “Alam Sena” (Army of Black Cats responsible for mass tortures and killings) deployed by Mohammad Izhar Alam, a senior Punjab Police officer and a very close affiliate of Punjab CM Parkash Badal.

The US was convinced of the Congress government's hand in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and termed it as "opportunism" and "hatred" of the government against Sikhs. The US also believed that the BJP leadership didn't have the courage to ask chief minister Narendra Modi to step down (following the 2002 Gujarat riots) even after PM Manmohan Singh apologised to the Sikhs after the filing of the Nanavati Commission report.

What appears to have happened is the first deliberate misinformation campaign built around the WikiLeaks cables, something sure to happen again as the ever-swelling release of documents provides cover for those who have forged documents to peddle.
